Why the change?
As Atlas continues to grow, maintaining security and stability becomes more challenging. Our goal is to address these issues and provide a more secure and stable Atlas without seriously impacting usability. In a nutshell, this means that every 6 months, non-SCHARP users will have to change their passwords. Both existing users and new users will need to choose strong passwords for Atlas access.The requirements for strong passwords are:
- Must be eight characters or more
- Must contain three of the following: lowercase letter (a-z), uppercase letter (A-Z), digit (0-9), or symbol (e.g., ! # $ % & / < = > ? @)
- Must not contain a sequence of three or more characters from your email address, display name, first name, or last name
- Must not match any of your 10 previously used passwords.
If you do not follow the strong password requirements, you won't be able to update your password. You'll receive an error message, similar to this:
Every 6 months you will be required to create a new strong password.
